“Good? Bad? I’m the guys with the gun. If you are not insensitive to this memorable replica of Ash, a character embodied by actor Bruce Campbell in the cinema and in the Evil Dead series, you should probably take a look at this new game inspired by the famous saga horrific. We even find in the production a certain Sam Raimi, director of genius (Spider-Man, A Simple Plan, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness…) at the origin, in 1981, of this trilogy of horror feature films gore and a bit grotesque.
Forty years later, the cult work is transformed into a multiplayer action game. Here four survivors will try to defeat demons led by the AI or by another player (necessarily demonic). A so-called “asymmetrical” gameplay that was already found in Friday the 13th or Evolve. Here we pull, we cut, we hammer, we knock… in the middle of the night, in search of pieces of maps, the page of the famous Necronomicon and a dagger supposed to repel evil entities. Gore and violent, this Evil Dead remains true to its DNA. Despite a gameplay that lacks finesse (movements, fights), we have fun with several people, mutual aid being essential here. A classic formula which, with several people and because we find the universe of Sam Raimi, works rather well for a few games.
Evil Dead – The Game, Saber Interactive, on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC.
